Mission Investing Forum -
Building Healthy Communities
On July 1, 2009, The California Endowment hosted a one-day forum with national and local experts to learn how foundations can enhance their place-based and healthy community missions with mission investments. Mission investments are broadly defined as financial investments that advance mission and generate a financial return. They can be structured across asset classes with both market-rate and below market-rate expected returns on a risk-adjusted basis. Below are the videos of the forum. Large and small foundations focused on healthy communities are using a broader range of tools to accomplish mission - leveraging grantmaking with policy initiatives, convening and mission investing.
The California Endowment's new strategic vision will take these tools to the community level to focus on prevention and the social determinants of health. As we refine and implement our Building Healthy Communities strategy, we hope to develop strategic partnerships throughout the state and nationally with like-minded investors and funders. |
