Food Politics:
An Evening with Marion Nestle
Tomorrow, Feb. 12 -- 5:30 p.m.

There's no such thing as a free lunch. The American food system is set up for mass production and mass consumption, and we are paying the price: Obesity rates have tripled in the past 30 years; there's enough food for each person to eat 3,900 calories per day; and one in three American children eats fast food every day.

How did we get here? Public health nutritionist, professor 051108.USA.nestle037xand author of Food Politics Marion Nestle will answer this question and talk about how to reverse the devastating health effects of a food system that often makes the healthier choices the harder choices. Laura Avery, supervisor of the Santa Monica Farmers' Markets and a correspondent for KCRW's "Good Food," will moderate the conversation and lead a question-and-answer session with the audience.

This event will take place at:

The California Endowment's
Center for Healthy Communities
1000 N. Alameda St.
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Light refreshments will be served. Admission and parking are free.
