Group to fund $6 million ad campaign urging health care reform

The California Endowment announced the launch of a $6 million advertising campaign to urge action on health reform in the state. The Endowment's President and CEO Robert K. Ross, M.D. was quoted and said he hoped the effort would encourage policymakers to make something happen in 2007.

Dentists, advocates upset poor aren't getting more dental care

"Putting Teeth Into Health Care Reform," a report funded by The California Endowment, found that Denti-Cal's portion of the Medi-Cal budget is much less than what other states are spending on dental care for the poor. This article quotes advocates and dentists who say that barriers in the system prevent dentists from participating in Denti-Cal, which therefore means less access to dental services for low-income Californians.

Mexican consulates offer health care help

Lunch at L.A. Unified

He ate - and reviewed - the food at Garfield High School in East L.A. and spoke with school administrators about the challenges of getting kids to eat healthier and fitting nutritious meals into the budget for school food. The California Endowment provided funds that helped the school district hire a nutritionist.
